Summary. We collect the information you give us when you ask about a car, book a viewing, apply for financing, buy or sell a vehicle, plus limited technical data from your browser. We use it to run our business and serve you. We do not sell your personal information for money. Advertising and analytics cookies stay off unless you turn them on, and we honor Global Privacy Control signals. You can access, correct or delete your information at any time on our Your Privacy Choices page.

3. Information we collect and where it comes from
Information you give us
- Inquiries and contact forms: your name, email address, phone number (optional), the vehicle you're interested in, and anything you write in your message.
- Viewings and test drives: appointment details and, at the appointment, your driver's license details and, where required, proof of insurance.

Information collected automatically
- Technical data: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, language, referring page and the pages you visit. Our hosting and security providers collect this to deliver and protect the Site.
- Cookies and similar technologies: we use strictly necessary browser storage to remember your privacy choices. Analytics and advertising technologies run only if you allow them. See our Cookie Policy.
Information from third parties
- Vehicle history providers and public records: title status, reported accidents and ownership history of vehicles, which can sometimes include information about previous owners.
- Lenders: whether a financing application was approved and the terms needed to complete your purchase.
- Transport carriers: delivery status and condition reports.
4. How we use personal information
- To respond to your questions and requests, and send the inspection reports, photos and history reports you ask for.
- To schedule viewings and test drives and verify that drivers are eligible to drive.
- To process deposits, purchases, sales and trade-ins, including titling, registration, payoff of existing loans and delivery.
- To help you apply for financing with lenders, if you ask us to.
- To send service messages about your inquiry or transaction.
- To send marketing emails about new arrivals, only if you opt in. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To operate, maintain, secure and improve the Site, and to detect and prevent fraud, abuse and security incidents.
- To understand how the Site is used (analytics), only if you allow analytics cookies.
- To show you relevant ads on other websites, only if you allow advertising cookies.
- To comply with legal obligations, including tax, record-keeping, consumer protection and vehicle sales laws, and to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
We do not use personal information for automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you, and we do not train artificial intelligence models on your personal information.
5. How we disclose personal information
We disclose personal information only as described below:
- Service providers and contractors who process information on our behalf under written contracts that restrict their use of it — for example website hosting, email delivery, customer communication tools, payment processing, document signing, cloud storage and IT security. This includes Google Fonts, which receives your IP address and browser information when it delivers the web fonts used on the Site; it does not set cookies.
- Lenders and financing partners, when you ask us to submit a financing application or a lender needs information to fund your purchase.
- Transport carriers and inspection partners, to inspect, collect or deliver a vehicle.
- Government agencies, such as state motor vehicle departments and tax authorities, to title and register vehicles and meet legal obligations.
- Insurers, for test drives and transport.
- Professional advisers, such as lawyers, accountants and auditors, under duties of confidentiality.
- Legal and safety reasons: to comply with law, legal process or lawful requests by public authorities; to enforce our terms; or to protect the rights, property or safety of Roadster Sale, our customers or others.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of all or part of our business, subject to this policy.
- Advertising and analytics partners, only if you allow the matching cookie category. See Section 6.
- With your consent or at your direction.
6. Sale, sharing and targeted advertising
We do not sell personal information for money.
If you allow advertising cookies, advertising partners may collect identifiers (such as cookie IDs and IP address) and internet activity on the Site to measure ads and show you relevant ads on other websites. Under California law this may be considered “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising; under other state laws it may be considered a “sale” or “targeted advertising.” Advertising cookies are off by default.
You can opt out at any time on our Your Privacy Choices page, through , or by enabling Global Privacy Control in your browser.
We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.
7. Cookies and similar technologies
We use strictly necessary browser storage to remember your privacy choices. Optional analytics and advertising technologies run only with your consent. You can change your choices at any time. Our Cookie Policy lists the technologies we use and how to control them.
8. Sensitive personal information
We collect sensitive personal information — your driver's license details and the financial account details needed to make or receive a payment — only when needed for a test drive or transaction. We use it only to provide the Services you request, verify identity and eligibility, prevent fraud and comply with law. We do not use or disclose it to infer characteristics about you, and we do not sell or share it. Because we use sensitive personal information only for these permitted purposes, we do not offer a separate right to limit its use.
9. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, using the periods in the notice at collection as a guide. When deciding how long to keep information, we consider the type of information, the purpose we collected it for, legal and tax record-keeping requirements, and whether it's needed to resolve disputes or enforce agreements. When the retention period ends, we delete or de-identify the information.
10. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information. Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia and other states with similar laws have these rights by law. We aim to honor reasonable requests from all U.S. residents.
- Right to know and access: confirm whether we process your personal information and get a copy of it, including the categories of information, sources, purposes and the categories of recipients.
- Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
- Right to delete personal information we collected from or about you, subject to legal exceptions (for example, transaction records we must keep for tax purposes).
- Right to data portability: receive your information in a portable, readily usable format.
- Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising.
- Right to opt out of profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects. We do not engage in such profiling.
- Right to a list of third parties to which we have disclosed personal information, where state law provides it (for example, Oregon and Minnesota).
- Right to appeal our decision on your request.
- Right to non-discrimination: we will not deny you services, charge you a different price or provide a different level of service because you exercised your privacy rights.
How to submit a request
- Use the request form on our Your Privacy Choices page, or
- Email [email protected] with your name, the email address you used with us, your state of residence and the request you are making.
To opt out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising on this browser, you can also use the opt-out switch on the Your Privacy Choices page or turn on Global Privacy Control.
Verification
To protect your information, we verify requests to know, access, correct or delete by matching the information you provide with information we already hold, for example by confirming control of the email address you used with us. For requests involving sensitive information or transaction records, we may ask for more information. We use the information you provide for verification only for that purpose. Opt-out requests do not require verification.
Authorized agents
You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. We may ask the agent for proof of your signed permission and may ask you to verify your identity directly with us, unless the agent holds a valid power of attorney.
Response times
We confirm receipt of requests within 10 business days and respond within 45 calendar days. If we need more time (up to another 45 days), we'll tell you why. We generally fulfill requests free of charge, but may refuse or charge a reasonable fee for requests that are manifestly unfounded or excessive.
Appeals
If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision or emailing [email protected] with the subject line “Privacy Request Appeal.” We will respond in writing within the time required by your state's law (generally 45 or 60 days) and explain our decision. If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you may contact your state Attorney General.
11. Additional information for California residents
In the preceding 12 months, we collected the categories of personal information listed in the notice at collection, from the sources described in Section 3, for the business and commercial purposes described in Section 4, and disclosed them for business purposes to the categories of recipients described in Section 5.
If you enabled advertising cookies, identifiers and internet or network activity may have been shared with advertising partners for cross-context behavioral advertising. We have not sold personal information for money.
Shine the Light. California Civil Code § 1798.83 allows California residents to request information about disclosures of personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes. We do not make such disclosures.
Financial incentives. We do not offer financial incentives in exchange for personal information.
12. Nevada residents
Nevada residents may opt out of the sale of certain covered information. We do not sell covered information as defined by Nevada law, but you may still submit an opt-out request to [email protected].
13. Financing applications
If you apply for financing, the lender collects and evaluates your application, including credit and income information, and its privacy notice under the federal Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act applies to that information. We receive only the information needed to complete your purchase, such as approval status and loan terms. Please read the lender's privacy notice before applying.
14. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
We treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser as a valid request to opt out of the sale and sharing of your personal information and targeted advertising for that browser. If we can associate the browser with information we hold about you — for example, because you contacted us from it with your email address — we will apply the opt-out to that information too.
There is no common industry standard for “Do Not Track” browser signals, so the Site does not respond to them. GPC is the signal we honor.
15. Emails, calls and text messages
We send marketing emails only if you opt in. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and we process unsubscribe requests promptly. We will still send service messages about your inquiry or transaction.
If you give us your phone number, we use it only to respond to your inquiry and manage your transaction. We do not send marketing calls or text messages without your separate prior express written consent, which is never a condition of buying a vehicle. Reply STOP to opt out of any text messages.
16. Children's privacy
The Site and Services are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact [email protected] and we will delete it.
17. How we protect information
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls based on job need, and vendor security reviews. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send sensitive information such as full bank account numbers or Social Security numbers through the contact form or by unencrypted email. If a data breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.
18. Third-party links
The Site may link to websites we don't control, such as lender portals, vehicle history providers and social media. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Review their privacy policies before providing information.
19. Visitors outside the United States
The Services are intended for residents of the United States. Information is processed and stored in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
20. Changes to this policy
We review this policy at least once a year and may update it from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top. If we make material changes, we will notify you on the Site or by email before they take effect. We will not apply material changes to personal information collected before the change without your consent where required by law.
